Estimating is one of the most important practices in any construction project.

Before beginning any size project, it is vital that estimating is performed to ensure the project can be accomplished within the customers budget. Our extensive experience with all sized projects in the recent data center industry provides us a wealth of knowledge to estimate your concepts in a short period of time. Getting a quick estimate provides you the ability to make magnitude decisions as you approach the project.

Once a baseline estimate is established, our team continues to work alongside our customers and host open discussion platforms to review individual line items. If cost-savings can be found, our team will strategize and present solutions that fit the customer’s needs. Overall, our goals during the estimating process are the same goals as our customers, understanding the costs associated with the project, while finding ways to achieve more value out your investment.

Estimating to Bidding Project

Once we have identified key design choices with your team, a dedicated project manager will engage reviewing the discussion notes and sharing the overall data center project parameters with the appropriate local and national vendors. We require all vendors to be properly insured, licensed and follow the FGC vendor MSA policy that ensures all payment terms are properly followed.

We strive for 3 quality bids in each trade such as MEP engineering, general, electrical, mechanical, security, monitoring, and access & controls. We ensure all scopes are reviewed and all RFIs are addressed so that every bid is complete and accurate. We want the bids to include equipment, material, labor, insurance, and material handling so nothing is missed. Our goal to provide an accurate estimate on the front end to eliminate any need for change orders at a later date. Our national vendor network is comprised of hundreds of installing contractors that are under MSA contact with FGC. We are confident in our partner’s ability to provide a high level of workmanship at a quality price.

When it makes sense, we can break the equipment portion of any project out and bid though our own equipment supply chains. This includes factory direct pricing from Equipment OEM such as Vertiv, Eaton, Cummins, PDI, and APC to name a few. With over 25 years of buying power, FGC has the option to buy equipment direct and passing the saving through to you.
