Taking an existing 70,000 sq. ft. shipping warehouse and converting it into one of Silicon Valley’s top premier data centers was a project FGC was ideally suited for. FGCC managed the complete process from engineering through commissioning. Ownership wanted to make sure their investment wasn’t going anywhere so the building/structure underwent an impressive seismic upgrade to increase its Importance Factor (Ip) to a 1.5. The project opened up 10,000SF of data floor for phase 1, with expansion to 30,000+/-SF. The use of 2750kW large capacity Generators line the gen yeard. 4 x 2MW UPS Systems with Lithium-Ion battery support the phase one electrical system. For data center HVAC, the choice for truly efficient cooling and low PUE was to use Indirect Evaporative Cooling Systems around the facility to cool the data floor. These systems are extremely efficient and can ramp up with the facility to provide day 1 efficient PUE. The existing 7,000 Sq. Ft. office space was demolished and rebuilt into the same footprint. We added (3) impressive equipment yards around the site to house critical equipment that supplies cooling and power to the various data halls. An impressive 8’-0” security fence with automatic roll gates was added around the site, along with a high-tech camera system to ensure the uninvited remain off the property grounds. The entire roof was removed and replaced with a TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin) system. Inside you will find all the amenities you would come to expect in a Tier 3 data center. You will find Card Access throughout the building and biometric readers to gain access to those most secure areas. Dual interlock fire suppression and Vesda early warning systems keep the site safe in the event of a fire.
FGC Construction installed an entire megawatt of UPS and generator upgrade to our 3d Printing facility. This holds our power stable and provides unlimited runtime. Much appreciated!
Lee M.COO - Boston, MAFGC Construction delivered 2.5MW of high density data center in the middle of Silicon Valley. City planning to utility negotiations. Very impressed!
